Call Me Father

Lord or Father?

Relationship is what I desire
Says He, not religion
Give Me the lordship over your life
Nonetheless, let your prayers be to your Father
What great God, what great Father

His loving hands flicking my hair
Graceful presence at my bedside
Cool breath blowing as I breathe
Soft fingers moving across my forehead
And His holy lips kissing my wet cheeks

Assures He, I am your Father
Was yours, and
Will be forevermore
Though the fact cries
You have lost one!

Parents brought me forth
But He made me
He planned for me
When I was an embryo in my mother’s womb
He prepared love for me before I was born
Securing even to this day
When I don’t deserve it at all

Call Me Father
Says His heart
